    Dr. Simpson is a professor and educational consultant from the Boston area where he teaches literature, language and writing courses. He received his Masters (MA) and Doctorate (DML) from Middlebury College, as well as a Masters in Higher Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. His research interests include Vanguard and Symbolist poetry, European Medieval Studies, Feminist Studies, Second Language Acquisition and Innovation in Teaching. He has published numerous poems and articles in literary journals in Spain and Latin America.

    Dr. Edward L. D' Antonio is a tenured Full Professor of Biochemistry and Structural Biology at the University of South Carolina Beaufort that specializes in medicinal chemistry for neglected tropical diseases. Since 2013, he has been teaching a variety of courses including Principles of Biochemistry, General Chemistry I and II, Quantitative Analysis, Forensic Techniques and Data Analysis, and Biological Principles. His research includes a team of undergraduate researchers that utilize a variety of techniques ranging from analytical chemistry, biotechnology, enzymology, structural biology, and synthetic chemistry. Structure-based drug design and screening approaches are his principal techniques in developing new classes inhibitors for enzyme drug-targets found in parasites of trypanosomatid diseases.

He earned his B.Sc. from the University of Toronto in Biology, Physics and Mathematics in 1991. In 1994 he received his M.Sc. in Biophysics and in 2000 his Ph.D in Applied Mathematics from the University of Guelph.

    Tess St. John is a tenured mathematics professor at Seminole State College of Florida (SSC). She teaches a range of mathematical courses specializing in statistics and the calculus series. Tess joined SSC in 2009. Prior to joining SSC, she taught at Mississippi State University and Mississippi University for Women (MUW). She has been one of the leaders at SSC and MUW in the use of a common technology for statistics courses. She also utilizes Maple in “real world” applications in her calculus courses. She not only teaches a wide variety of classes, but she serves as the Statistics Lead Instructor. Through this role, she leads statistics workshops for both faculty and students. She is involved with activities on campus including being the faculty adviser for student organizations and serving on several committees that involve technology, student success, and scholarships. Tess is a member of the Mathematics Association of America (MAA) and is a member of the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC) where she serves as the southeast statistics representative. She is a member of DKG, a women’s international teaching society. With her involvement in these associations she has presented GAISE to colleagues across the United States as well as how to get females more involved in STEM careers. Off of campus, she writes the mathematics/statistics portion of the Optometry Admission Test and Dental Admission Test and grades the AP calculus exams. Tess received her master’s degree in mathematics from Mississippi State University. She is a lifetime student though. She is fascinated with the field of data science and pursues this interest through courses and research. Tess likes to travel with her family learning about new cultures and food. She enjoys her days at the beach, where she lives, and paddleboards as often as she can. She is learning to surf with the help of her husband, David. She teaches aerobics for fun and enjoys an active lifestyle running half marathons with her husband as well.

He is the author of eleven books including After Eunuchs: Science, Medicine, and the Transformation of Sex in Modern China (Columbia University Press, 2018), which received the 2019 International of Convention of Asia Scholars Humanities Book Prize.

Dr. Hayes has also been a natural scientist, specifically a paleontologist for 25 years, investigating the Earth’s history, the history and development of Life on Earth, and Earth’s place in the Universe. This exploration has led him to research and teach about Biology, Geology, and Astronomy.
